Developing ‘Chargelink’ new charge controller

The ChargeLink bridges between a Mode 3 AC charging station, the battery management system and onboard chargers in an electric vehicle (EV).

  • Responding to available power
  • Enable dynamic charger control
  • Drive away protection
  • Automatic wake-up and sleep
  • Dual baudrate CAN-BUS gateway
  • Short range mode
  • Facilitating stationary power
  • Temperature sensing
  • Auxiliary fan control
  • Charge lock bridge

Unfortunately this product never got finished. I did make a datasheet though.

Testing the electronics design for my charge controller. Thanks to Erik for his help.

Sometimes it is best to just start from scratch again. With this PCB design project voor a charge link even twice.

One design rule check error was remaining. Almost thought the DRC was wrong but found a 0,01mm difference in the end.

Thanks to Erik for a final review and helping to get the last bits optimised. My ChargeLink PCB is now ‘in production’ at JLCPCB (outstanding service!)

Also electric?

Do you also want to convert your car (Volvo or another brand) to full electric? As a spin-off of my own EV conversion project I started EVcreate for 'enabling EV conversions'
